A security guard, Ajayi Fulani whose 12-year-old daughter was allegedly raped by a traditional ruler of Laagba village in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State, has called on the state government, security agencies and other stakeholders to assist in getting justice for the victim.
The Ondo State Police Command on Thursday said it had arrested a man, Chief Ifedayo, for allegedly raping Fulani’s daughter.
The suspect, who is the head of the community, was alleged to have lured the victim into his house, detained her for two weeks, and allegedly assaulted her sexually.
However, Fulani, a security guard, who spoke to journalists in Ondo town on Friday alleged, “The Baale kidnapped my daughter and kept her in his house in the community where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her. I am not always at home because of the nature of my job as a security guard. I noticed her absence from home on May 25, 2025, and I began searching for her immediately.
“For almost a month, I searched everywhere. Eventually, her sister received a call from her saying she was in Akure. She began looking for her and found her beside the Cathedral church in Akure where she had been dropped off.”
According to him, after the victim was found, the matter was immediately reported to the police Area Command’s office in Akure, after which the police directed them to seek medical treatment.
“She was first taken to the General Hospital in Ondo but was referred to the Mother and Child Hospital at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo, where she was admitted and treated for six days.
“When I spoke to my daughter, she confirmed that the Baale had sexual intercourse with her. I called the Baale, and he pleaded with me to calm down, saying the matter would be resolved. He even offered to repay all medical expenses incurred, but I refused and told him that I would seek justice,” he stated.
The aggrieved father appealed to the state government and the state Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrator to book.
