A taekwondo athlete representing Osun State, Abdullahi Adegoke, has vowed his team will win gold medals to surpass their 21st National Sports Festival records in Delta.

Adegoke told newsmen in Abeokuta on Sunday of the state athletes’ readiness to make Osun proud at the biennial event, the 22nd edition, tagged the “Gateway Games”.

“Taekwondo has been one of the strongholds of Osun state when it comes to winning laurels.

“We are used to winning medals for the state at National events, and we are sure this National Sports Festival wouldn’t be an exception.

“At the 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State, only four of us participated, and we won three medals for Osun State.

“This time, we have set our sights on winning more medals, preferably gold medals.

“We have been training for a very long time, and this is the time for us to show the world the stuff we are made of,” Adegoke said.

NAN reports that no fewer than 11 athletes are set to represent Osun in Taekwondo, comprising five female athletes and six male athletes.
