The Commander 213 Forward Operating Base, Nigeria Air Force, Katsina and Joint Force Air Component Commander, Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, Air Commodore Ibrahim Jibia, has attributed the success of the ongoing onslaught on bandits in the North-West region to the personnel’s bravery.
“It is because of their unwavering commitment, bravery, and selflessness that peace and stability are completely returning to Katsina State and the wider Northwest region,” Yamma said.
He stated this on Monday during the Eid-el-Kabir luncheon organised in honour of gallant personnel serving in the Theatre of Operations at Air Force Base, Katsina.
According to him, the Air Component of Operation FASAN YAMMA Sect 2 has been instrumental in the collective anti-banditry efforts across the joint operations environment.
He said, “Our operations, supported by cutting-edge platforms and dedicated crews, have delivered precision air strikes, timely battlefield interdiction, tactical airlift, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities forming a critical pillar of Nigeria’s national security response in the region.
“Over the past months, we have intensified our aerial dominance leading to the significant neutralisation of
terrorists in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina State.
“These efforts, often carried out in synergy with the NA and other security agencies, have disrupted terrorist logistics, command structures, and freedom of movement. These milestones are a testament to our jointness, adaptability,and operational discipline.
“I Wish to commend the resilience and tenacity of our airmen and airwomen, who continue to demonstrate
remarkable professionalism despite the demanding nature of the environment. Your efforts remain the bedrock of our
operational success.
“Your sacrifices bring hope to thousands of displaced families returning to their ancestral homes and are directly contributing to the rebuilding of Katsina State and the restoration of total peace in the North West Region.
“Let us also remember and honor the memory of our fallen heroes, who paid the ultimate price in service to our beloved nation. Their legacy lives on in our determination to complete the mission and ensure that peace is fully restored to every inch of this land. May Almighty Allah grant
them eternal rest and continue to strengthen their families.
“As we partake in this Eid-el-Kabir luncheon, l urge all of us to remain mindful of the responsibilities that lie ahead”, Jibia said.
He however, said the road to full stabilisation of the region is still ongoing, noting that they must sustain the momentum through vigilance, professionalism and unity of purpose.
”Together, as one formidable force, we will overcome the challenges that remain and chart a course for enduring peace, development, and national security”, he noted.
Commodore Jibia, thanked Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, who was represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Katsina State Nasir Mu’azu, for continued support and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the troops and the security of the State.
He also appreciated the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, noting that his visionary leadership has significantly repositioned the Nigerian Air Force for enhanced operational effectiveness.
The commissioner, who spoke on behalf of Radda, acknowledged the sacrifice of security agencies in the state in the fight against insecurity.
“Governor Radda is concerned about the security of the people of the State and he appreciates the resilience of security agencies in their efforts towards the fight against insecurity in the State”, Mu’azu said.
Mu’azu used the event to shake hands with some of the pilots who were at the forefront of the fight against banditry in the North West region.
